The kilowatt-hour (kWh) is a unit for measuring electrical energy consumed or produced over time.
It corresponds to the amount of energy used when a device with a power of one kilowatt operates for one hour. In electric mobility, kWh is used to measure battery capacity: the higher this capacity, the more kilometres a vehicle can travel before needing a recharge. For example, a heavy-duty vehicle consuming 1.2 kWh/km could travel about 500 km with a 600 kWh battery. The kWh is also the unit used to bill for the electricity consumed during a charging session.
Note: kWh measures a quantity of energy, while kW expresses instantaneous power.
