Charging Point / Charge Point

A charging point is a piece of equipment used to supply electricity to an Electric Vehicle (EV) to recharge its battery.

Connected to an electrical network via a central infrastructure, it forms the physical interface between the vehicle and the charging system. The charging point can deliver Alternating Current (AC) or Direct Current (DC), with variable power ratings depending on the use (domestic, professional, public, fast, rapid/ultra-rapid).

It is equipped with one or more charging sockets and may include smart features like user identification, session scheduling, or communication with a supervision system. In a fleet charging depot, it plays a key role in orchestrating energy flows to vehicles according to defined priorities.

It is therefore an essential link in electromobility.
