EVCC: Electric Vehicle Charging Controller

The EVCC (Electric Vehicle Charging Controller) is a controller integrated into the Electric Vehicle that manages the charging process by communicating directly with the charging point controller, the SECC (Supply Equipment Communication Controller).

It supervises the exchange of information between the vehicle and the charging point, ensuring that charging conditions are optimised and safe. The EVCC regulates the power delivered, controls the compatibility of electrical flows, and adjusts the charge based on the battery’s status. It plays a key role in ensuring efficient and safe charging, while contributing to battery life management and compliance with charging infrastructure safety standards.

Each EVCC has a unique identifier, which can be used by a charging point to identify the vehicle for features like AutoCharge.
