ISO 15118: Smart Communication Standard between EV and Charging Point

ISO 15118 is an international standard that defines a bidirectional communication protocol between an electric vehicle (EV) and a charging station (EVSE) via the charging cable.

This standard paves the way for advanced uses: smart charging, integration into electricity grids (smart grids), bidirectional charging (Vehicle-to-Grid), and dynamic energy management. It is based on a secure IP architecture, ensuring reliable and protected data exchange.

By facilitating interoperability, automation and security, ISO 15118 is a pillar of tomorrow’s charging infrastructure, designed for smooth, connected and efficient electric mobility – for both private individuals and professional fleets.
