Loi LOM: French Mobility Orientation Law

The LOM Act (Loi d’Orientation des Mobilités) is French legislation adopted in 2019, aimed at modernising the transport system and promoting sustainable mobility.

It is part of an energy transition and greenhouse gas emission reduction initiative, encouraging the use of electric vehicles, shared mobility and intermodality.

The law provides for measures to improve access to transport for all, while promoting charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and supporting the electrification of the sector.

It also requires local authorities and businesses to comply with environmental targets and reduce dependence on private car transport.

The LOM is therefore a central pillar of France’s mobility and decarbonisation policy.
