he Nice-based transport and logistics group Transcan has installed an ultra-fast electric charging station from Chargepoly at its warehouse in the Nice Saint-Isidore Logistics Park (PAL). Together with the acquisition of two 16-tonne electric trucks, Transcan will now be able to operate 100% zero-emission deliveries in the city centre.
Transcan accelerates its shift to electrification
After partially converting its fleet to B100 biofuel, the regional logistics group founded in 2001 is stepping up its CSR commitments by switching its heavy vehicles to electric power. Managing nearly 100,000 m² of logistics space across 18 buildings in the region, Transcan has recently purchased eight electric Renault Master vans and two 16-tonne Renault Trucks.
To power these vehicles, Transcan has turned to another French specialist: Chargepoly, an expert in high-power charging solutions for heavy-duty fleets. A 150 kW charging hub, consisting of three chargers, has just been installed at Transcan’s 6,000 m² site in the Nice Saint-Isidore Logistics Park. This infrastructure enables the 16-tonne trucks to charge from 20% to 80% in just 75 minutes.
The station was deployed in only two weeks at the height of the festive season and will go live in the coming days, once the new trucks are delivered.
Cleaner trucks in the heart of Nice
Thanks to these investments, the new charging hub and electric trucks, Transcan can now provide fully electric, zero-emission deliveries in Nice city centre through its subsidiary Transcan Eco City, dedicated to last-mile logistics.
From its PAL site, where around 10,000 parcels are handled daily, the company consolidates shipments from partner carriers and logistics providers, sorts them automatically, and redistributes them by destination. These consolidated flows are then transported with electric trucks to strategically located micro-hubs in central Nice and Cannes, from which the final stretch is carried out using e-cargo bikes.
This model of “smart flow consolidation” dramatically reduces traffic: where dozens of diesel trucks were once required, only a handful of electric trucks, vans, and cargo bikes are now sufficient to serve the same delivery points. The addition of Chargepoly’s charging station strengthens Transcan’s sustainable logistics strategy, making 100% electric city-centre deliveries a reality.
