EVSE: Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment

EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) refers to the complete set of devices and systems required to safely and efficiently charge Electric Vehicles (EVs) in North America. 

Beyond the charging station itself, EVSE includes electrical protection components such as circuit breakers and relays, cables, connectors, energy meters (often compliant with Measurement Canada or local utility standards), and, in modern setups, software platforms and communication systems for monitoring and management.

Functioning as a controlled interface between the electrical grid and the EV, EVSE ensures that power delivery, whether AC or DC, is safe, compliant, and optimized for each charging session. Proper installation of EVSE at homes, workplaces, or public charging networks is essential to support widespread EV adoption, guaranteeing interoperability, performance, safety, and reliability for all users.
