With the commissioning of our 50 initial fast charging sites dedicated to heavy mobility, we were able to observe firsthand what it means to electrify a large-scale fleet of trucks. These real life experiences highlight the importance of infrastructure and the expertise needed to guarantee performance and availability. Here are the five main takeaways.

1. Availability: a key performance indicator

  • Field findings: In freight transport, vehicle availability is a critical factor. Carriers must adhere to strict schedules to avoid penalties for late deliveries and to optimize fleet productivity. Any downtime, even brief, can lead to significant time losses and additional costs. In this context, rapid and reliable access to energy is essential for daily operations.
  • Chargepoly expertise: Our stations guarantee an operational availability greater than 99% (Internal source Chargepoly, 2025). Thanks to our Lucie monitoring platform and our preventive maintenance protocols that ensure real-time monitoring and minimize unforeseen interruptions, thus providing a reliable infrastructure for electric fleets.
  • Challenge for businesses: The high reliability of the stations allows carriers to integrate electric vehicles into their daily operations with complete confidence by reducing the risks associated with delays and optimizing the overall efficiency of their fleet.

2. Modularity and scalability: preparing for growth

  • Field findings: Fleets are constantly evolving, both in size and operational needs. Modular charging stations with a distributed architecture make it easy to add new charging points as the fleet grows, thus providing a progressive and tailored response to real needs and unforeseen change.
  • Chargepoly expertise: thanks to an in-depth study by working with our clients from the outset, we support them in designing a station perfectly sized for their initial needs, while also anticipating the future growth of their infrastructure. This approach helps avoid overinvestment while ensuring that the infrastructure can accommodate future fleet growth thanks to the modularity of our solutions.
  • Challenge for businesses: This flexibility translates into an Optimized CAPEX and infrastructure aligned with real needs and the ability to absorb fleet growth without technical constraints, thus offering a smooth and evolving investment planning.

3. User experience: drivers and operations

  • Field findings: on the ground, drivers emphasize the importance of the smooth driving and of the charging speed which help minimize downtime and optimize routes. A complex or overly slow infrastructure can generate frustration and loss of productivity, even for the best-planned fleets.
  • Chargepoly expertise: Our stations are designed to simplify the driver experience with intuitive interfaces and standardized charging processes. Today, the Autocharge ensures a fast and error-free connection, and tomorrow, the Plug & Charge will offer an even secure experience, allowing drivers to focus on their mission rather than on recharging.
  • Challenge for businesses : a positive user experience translates into improved productivity and greater driver satisfaction, directly contributing to overall operational efficiency and to the success of the transition to electric vehicles.

4. Flexible charging optimizes the TCO

  • Field findings: Even today, justifying the switch to electric vehicles remains a challenge for many companies, particularly due to initial costs and the complexity of energy management. Fleets that combine overnight charging at depots with targeted rapid charging nevertheless see a significant reduction in their energy consumption per kilometer, of up to 30 to 40% (ICCT 2022). This observation highlights the importance of optimized charging management to maximize return on investment.
  • Chargepoly expertise: our stations are designed to manage power spikes, prioritize vehicles according to their operational needs and optimize charging. Our algorithms reduce unnecessary power demands, the optimization of kWh consumption, and the stabilization of operating costs, thus guaranteeing a TCO mastered for electric fleets.
  • Challenge for businesses: Effective energy planning, supported by a high-performance CMS, becomes a concrete lever for reducing operational costs, to secure profitability and facilitate the transition to electric vehicles in daily operations.

5. System interoperability: streamlining operations

  • Field findings: In transport fleets, vehicles and infrastructure often rely on a variety of systems, some of which are outdated. The coexistence of different solutions can slow down operations and complicate energy management if information flows are not seamless.
  • Chargepoly expertise: our solutions are designed to ensure interoperability between the old systems and the new infrastructures. Thanks to our Lucie platformCharging data, fleet priorities and energy flows are centralized and harmonized, enabling smooth and secure coordination of operations, without loss of time or efficiency.
  • Challenges for businesses: This interoperability facilitates the gradual integration of new technologies, reduces the risk of operational errors and optimizes overall fleet productivity, while ensuring business continuity during the transition to electric.

The first 50 heavy-duty sites signed by Chargepoly have demonstrated that charging infrastructure is a key factor in the successful electrification of truck fleets. Thanks to our approach focused on operational needs, combining advanced supervision, modularity, and field expertise, Chargepoly guarantees reliable, scalable, and optimized solutions to maximize the availability and performance of electric vehicles.
